The Tour de France 2026 is underway. Here is how I stream it free, and where I bet on Pogačar and the field with crypto.

Every July, I watch fans realize too late that their TV package does not carry a single stage of the Tour de France. I do not want that to catch you out. In this guide, I show you how to follow the 2026 Tour de France online without paying for a subscription, and where I place my crypto bets on the race.

Cycling is not among the most popular sports in the world, but it has a loyal following. Even people who rarely watch a race have heard of the Tour de France. It has been held since 1903, and more than a century later, it still draws a growing crowd every summer. This year matters even more because Slovenian rider Tadej Pogačar can claim his fifth title and equal the all-time record. That is why I put together the best ways to watch the race, along with the basic rules, the format, the pre-race favorites, and the strongest betting options.

One thing to keep in mind as you read: the race is already underway. It began on July 4 with the Grand Départ in Barcelona, so several stages are done, but the hardest mountain days and both rest weeks of racing still lie ahead. This guide helps you catch every remaining stage.

Tour de France 2026: Format and Info

For anyone new to the race, the Tour de France spans 21 stages over 23 days, with two rest days. The riders cover roughly 3,333 kilometers. The 2026 edition started with the Grand Départ on July 4 in Barcelona. This is only the third time the race has started in Spain, after San Sebastian in 1992 and Bilbao in 2023.

The overall winner is the rider with the lowest combined time across every stage. The stages differ in character. There are flat stages, mountain stages, and time trials that test a rider’s raw strength and endurance. The final stage is scheduled for July 26 and finishes in Paris on the Champs-Élysées, where the new champion is crowned.

A total of 23 teams take part, each with eight riders, for a total of 184 competitors at the start. Riders drop out along the way due to injury, illness, or fatigue, so that number declines. The 18 teams at the top level of professional cycling, the UCI WorldTeams, qualify automatically. The organizers then invite five more teams from the second tier to complete the field.

Before the betting section, it is worth noting one detail that gives the race its color: the jerseys. The most famous is the yellow jersey, worn by the rider leading the overall classification. There is also the green jersey for the best sprinter, the polka-dot jersey (white with red dots) for the “King of the Mountains”, and the white jersey for the best young rider.

Favorites and Crypto Odds for Tour de France 2026

Most bettors start by predicting the overall winner. With that in mind, here are the ten leading pre-race favorites who were expected to shape this year’s edition. The race is now in progress, so live odds have already moved. I always check the current price before I stake anything.

3Paul Seixas13.00

All eyes are on the Slovenian, Tadej Pogačar, and anything other than his win would surprise most fans. That is no shock, given he already holds four Tour de France titles. A win this year would draw him level with the legendary Belgian Eddy Merckx, who won the race five times. Beyond Pogačar, the sportsbooks give a genuine chance to this year’s Giro d’Italia champion. A victory for anyone else would count as a major upset.

Team betting also draws real interest, and the odds there sit closer together. Even so, UAE Team Emirates stands out as the clear favorite, mostly thanks to Pogačar. The team classification is worked out by adding the combined times of each team’s three fastest riders.

Note: I took these odds from the VAVE crypto sportsbook, a betting site that accepts cryptocurrency deposits rather than fiat, and they were accurate at the time of writing. Odds shift as the race unfolds, so I always compare prices and check which sportsbook offers the best value on the rider I want to back. And before any of that, I set a budget I am comfortable losing and a deposit limit, then I stick to it.

Where to Watch Tour de France 2026

If you have read this far, you probably want to catch at least one of the remaining stages. Below, I walk through each option. Everyone has trade-offs, so I give you an honest view of each so you can pick what fits you.

Option 1: Cable TV Providers in Your Country

Watching through a broadcaster that holds the official rights is the strongest option if you follow the race from home. Cycling draws smaller audiences than football or basketball, so not every broadcaster pays for the rights. Even so, in most countries, the Tour is carried by Eurosport. You get sharp picture quality and expert commentary that helps newer viewers read the race as it happens. The downside is simple. It fails if you are away from home or if your provider does not carry the channel.

Option 2: HBO Max

The 2026 Tour is also available on HBO Max, so you can follow it anywhere through the platform’s mobile and smart-device apps. As with a normal broadcast, you get high-definition quality. HBO Max is a paid subscription, though, so many fans look for a free alternative instead.

Option 3: Unofficial Sports Streaming Websites

You can also try websites that specialize in streaming sports. In my view, this is the option to avoid. The picture is often poor, the stream lags behind the live action, and, most importantly, these sites are usually unverified and unsafe. That puts your privacy and your device at real risk.

Option 4: Crypto Sportsbooks with Free Live Streaming

Online sportsbooks, including crypto-only sites, compete hard to offer the fullest experience, and live betting sits at the center of that. As a result, most major brands now stream a wide range of events tied to their in-play markets, meaning bets placed while the action is happening. Watching this way carries real upsides. The streams run at high resolution, with little to no delay, and no adverts break the picture. You can choose full screen or a smaller window that keeps the live odds in view so you can react and place a bet at the right moment. The stream itself costs nothing extra, but you do need an account with the sportsbook, and live betting means depositing funds first.

Conclusion

For decades, the Tour de France has stayed one of the most prestigious events in sport, even though cycling trails football, basketball, and tennis in popularity. I am confident that once you watch a single stage, you will want the next one, and before long, you will follow the race every July.

If your provider holds the broadcast rights, TV is still the best way to enjoy the race at home. For everyone else, a live stream through a crypto sportsbook where you hold an account is a strong alternative, especially since those platforms also stream plenty of other live sports. From there, it comes down to opening an account, making the minimum deposit within a limit you set, and pressing play to catch the rest of this year’s Tour.
